A scholar studying the culture of the Sistani people in Zabol has donated a small treasure of children’s toys to the Institute for Research on History of Children’s Literature in Iran (IRHCLI) to be added to the National Museum of Children’s Culture and Literature’s collection.
This collection includes the dolls “Toochan,” who is swaddled, “Moochan” whose face is sewn with red and black thread in addition to several dolls called “Lobatak.” A basket cradle which used to be hung from the ceiling to protect babies from ants and insect bites is included in this gift. Zabol is an ancient city in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
