Samineh Baghcheban Talks about her Parents and Deaf Education

Samineh Baghcheban, the daughter of  Jabbar Baghcheban, the well-known Iranian writer and founder of deaf children's education in Iran, had a lecture about her parents at " House of Librarians for Children and Adolescents " on April 9.‎

Walking with a cane, the 85-year-old Ms Baghcheban talked about ‘"Roshangar-e Tariki-ha"" ("Illuminator of the Darkness, An auto biography of the great Iranian teacher for the deaf children")

’ in the meeting attended by members of the "House" and the "Children Book Council of Iran " as well as fans of late Jabbar Baghcheban.‎

Ms Baghcheban elaborated on the book, which features the autobiography of Jabbar Baghcheban, a pioneer of the modern education and founder of the deaf education in Iran and his wife and assistant Safieh Mir-Babaei.‎ The book includes writings by Samin and Samineh Baghcheban about their parent as well as their family photos.‎

Ms Baghcheban has followed in his father’s footsteps to develop the deaf education and modern training in Iran.‎ The efforts exerted by Ms Baghcheban and her father prior to the Islamic Revolution in 1979 helped Iran to be named by the United Nations as a focal point for the deaf education in the Middle East and North Africa.‎

The book is published by the "Institute for Research on the History of Children's Literature in Iran "
