The Database For Children's Culture and Literature of Iran(DCLI) is based on the findings of the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature in Iran (IRHCLI) which has gathered tens of thousands of documents and materials from various fields related to children and adolescents for nearly a decade.

The Institute’s research experience has shown that the realm of children’s and adolescents’ lives and culture is largely unknown and inaccessible in Iran and in large parts of the worldThe Database For Children's Culture and Literature of Iran has been founded with the goal of making our findings accessible to researchers, university students, professors, writers, illustrators and all those involved in children’s literature.

IRHCLI’s experience in gathering existing resources proves the prevalence of information in areas related to children and adolescents because children’s lives comprise many subjects including health, education, law, work, art and culture, clothing and hobbies and games. Hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of documents are discovered on each of these topics and are usable after information processing.

The Database For Children's Culture and Literature of Iran has been developed with the goal of processing information specific to Iranian children and adolescents. In this database, after raw data is processed and edited it is entered and ready to use as information records. Providing the possibility of quick access to correct and complete information about Iranian children’s and adolescents’ literature not only responds to the information needs of Iranian researchers, but it will also help researchers from other countries who are working in this area accomplish their comparative research with a global and historical approach and through information about all existing documents and the ability to evaluate them.

The structure of  The Database For Children's Culture and Literature of Iran has been designed and programmed in a way that researchers can obtain descriptive information and a summary of the texts they need by directly visiting the database. In some cases a complete copy of the documents can also be accessible. The design of this database is such that in the future it can be the foundation and information warehouse for an interconnected network of children and adolescents in Iran.
